"Vending Machine" wins Newgrounds award

As I often mention before bragging, I'm not the type to brag. But that said, I am somewhat proud to announce that my infamous Dawson graduation film "Vending Machine" recently made its debut at the Newgrounds.com Flash portal, where it was quite well received, winning the Daily 2nd Place award (in other words, it was the second highest rated movie submitted to the site that day). So um, Yay!

This means that anyone who has never seen the short animated film that brought joy into the lives of so many Dawson cinema students (and, more recently, random Internet geeks I've never met), now has absolutely no excuse not to watch it.

My new comic strip

This is the official announcement of my new webcomic, The Artiste Manquée! It's one of my many personal side projects, and it's a pretty good one so far if I may say so. My fellow art students should get a kick out of it... either that or they'll hate me. :)

Finally on deviantART

I reached a milestone in my artistic career yesterday at about 11 a.m. I finally gave in and created a deviantArt account... since that seems to be the way the wind is blowing for anyone who wants the artwork they make to actually be looked at. My gallery contains pretty much the same stuff you'll find in the "Artwork" section of this site, but in higher resolution in most cases, so it's worth checking out. Please support me in my quest for recognition!

New site sections

A couple of new sections should be appearing on the left-hand menu sometime soon. The first, a Downloads page, is already there as of today. You'll be able to download interactive content like screen savers and desktop backgrounds, all created by me. Feel free to give me feedback on these!

I'm also planning to split my Artwork page into more than one section, to separate serious work from sketches and doodles. Stand by for a "Doodlebook" page!

The Exodus completed

So I've just moved this site to a shiny new web server, which wouldn't have been possible without the help of my good buddy Kina (so a shout out to her for that). This means a couple of changes (mostly for me, not you), like having to alter some of my coding to accommodate PHP 5 (That's right, it's the first time I've had a web host who actually keeps their PHP version up to date, despite the fact that it's completely free of charge to do so).

So what does this mean for you? Well, a happier (and slightly richer) webmaster can better do his job and ensure your browsing experience is always enjoyable. So enjoy!

Sweet stagnant summer

This site will not be updated until late August. I've been in Trois-Pistoles (which was fantastic) for the past two months, and I'm about to leave again for Ukraine. After I get back, expect some changes to the site. Peace.

Out of town

I won't be updating anything on this site between now and June 16 at the earliest. I am still reachable by email. Have a great summer.

Old website now viewable

Those of you who've been hanging around me long enough to remember that ridiculous website I had back in high school may be interested in this replica of cloud.iwarp.com that I've added to my Projects page for old times' sake. Right now it looks pretty much exactly the way it looked when I canceled the account at my old free web hosting company, except without ads in five places on every page.

Harchun.com 2.0 has arrived!

It's been several months in the making, and I got behind on it more than a few times because of school work, but the brand shining new interface for my website is finally up and running. It's still a tad rough around the edges in some areas, but hopefully the kinks won't show themselves faster than I can iron them out. If you run into any major bugs (unlikely though it is), be sure to contact me about it.

New features

In addition to the overall layout change and redesigning of all the old pages, I've also added a guestbook where you can leave your kind thoughts about me, a more intuitive film/artwork viewing system, and the Sidebar (on the right) where you can quickly see what's new here. As an added bonus, note the spectacular return of the Harhuncam.

You'll also note that the menu content has changed, with some new sections added. Long story short, all my work that was previously hidden in the Flash-based portfolio is now in full view for your pleasure. More will be added soon, especially to the artwork page. Enjoy it, I worked hard to bring it to you!
